I am going to post the outline for "Ladies Night" which is an "intro" to WSD. The thing I want to make most clear is that I am under no illusion that this is the end all for WSD. We have a program, I have posted about it earlier every SAT afternoon, 1 hour training for $5.00. This is hopefully to stir up intrest and as I said, act as an intro. We are working constantly to improve the program, your suggestions and input are appreciated. If you feel I have missed the mark by not putting a multi week comprehensive course in place, hey, I'm working on it!
Under the law of the US a work has copyright protection from the minute it is created, but this outline and use of ladies night as a leader for martial arts is released for your use if you agree to Use at your own risk and to hold me and my school harmless.
Anywho, tonight`s the night, wish us luck :-)

Women's Self Defense Seminar
Target Audience 11 yr and up
Agenda:
We are glad you are here! This two hour course is designed for you to:
Demonstration:
PLEASE note that although several of the senarios we act out as demo team are funny, at least we hope you will find them humorous, we take WSD very seriously. Standard demo routine except that all starring roles to be executed by demo team females.
Warm ups:
AEROBICS MUSIC ON:
Lecture:
Alertness
Alertness is a state of being (like wellness) that can be developed and aspired to. Alertness feeds your mind the information that allows it to develop AWARENESS.
Situational Awarness
There are three senarios to consider in this seminar:
On Seeing:
Mostly, we as humans are not very observant. We look, but we do not see. From this we can draw two conclusions:
- We have a lot of control over whether or not we are seen. Certainly we will all be looked at, but what are factors that cause the eye/mind to fix on us?
I like to think of fish. when I was growing up in Hawaii, I used to go skin diving a lot. I used to love watching schools of fish. It is amazing how they all act the same, turn at the same time. If one gets confused, can't stay with the school, bamm big fish eats em.
- We have to learn to see. This feeds back into alertness and awareness. We need to develop the ability to look at someone once, look away and describe them.
We have to develop the ability when something about someone bothers us, to be able to describe both the physical appearance AND the behaviors of that person.
On lusting:
This is a DECISION that only you can make. We encourage you to give the matter some thought and decide before an event happens which path you will take. Understand that training, and visualizing helps you go the way you have planned but it does not guarentee it.
Example: the Air Force spends a lot of time, effort, and money teaching its pilots to eject from failed aircraft. When stuff goes wrong at MACH 2, it can go very wrong, very fast. It is incredible, how many times, the pilot under extreme stress is able to reach the face curtain and eject. The pilot has made the DECISION to eject under certain circumstance, knows the techniques for how to eject and has practiced executing the techniques. And it works!
The remainder of this workshop is predicated on the DECISION being to resist. The GOAL of all these techniques is to allow you to GET AWAY. If you make the decision to resist, we will help by showing you techniques that you can learn and practice.
In all cases we will make the assumption you are on the wrong end of the weight/strength ratio. Therefore many of the techniques taught in normal martial arts may not be adequate. Some of the techniques may seem cruel or gross. Remember there is no prize here for coming in second.
If you decide to resist you must be TOTALLY COMMITTED to your decision. If you start to resist and then quit, the attacker will quite likely be enraged. This translates to pain and injury of your body.
If you do resist you have a much better chance of not being assaulted or raped. If you resist and fail, you have a better chance of being killed or injured.
We know this has gotten pretty heavy, but it all has to be said. We hope that you will reflect on the information you have been given so that you can make the fight choice for you. Now lets get up, get the blood flowing, and do some work.
AEROBICS MUSIC ON

Applications: As instructor attacks you execute combination: Grab from front, poke, palm thrust, grab head, knee strike Grab from behind, elbow strikes followed by palm strike Wrist grab, escape, followed by side kick to knee, forearm strike
AEROBICS MUSIC OFF

We have hosted our first ladies night. As an introduction to self defense with the goals of [them] having fun, getting some exercise, learning some self def it was a success. The program I posted will go almost exactly 2 hours if no demo. The worst ommission(s) that I am aware of are:
A most interesting side effect of calling it ladies night. As many (strange) men came to watch as ladies to train???? I had some of the assistant instructors turn them out.
When it was over EVERY single lady came up and said excellent job.
The credit is not to me though, it goes to every one of you who has helped me in putting this program together with advice and criticsm. I meant it when I put R.M-A first on the references list!!!!
Thanks
