Preliminary fold it, colored side out, if you want the color to be on the outside of the jar.

Fold a triangle up to form the bottom of the jar.  The more you fold up, the wider the jar.  The less, the narrower.  Try with about 1/8-1/5 of the total height to begin with.

Fold the creased edges in, parallel with the center, meeting the crease formed in the last step. Repeat on the back.

Reach inside, and open the jar. Form the bottom creases from the creases made in step 3. Note: Between the flaps, a small notch will be created, allowing the top edge to open wider then the base. The size will depend on the size of the base.
